Yoga pose of the week.

Tree pose - Sanskrit name : Vriksasana

  • Balancing pose

  • Benefits: 

    • Improve physical balance

    • Increase concentration & confidence

    • Bring sense of calm 

    • Stretch & strengthen legs, arms & back

  • Contraindications:

    • Insomnia

    • Headache

    • Blood pressure (low or high)

    • Knee, ankle or hip injury 

  • Variations:

    • Lean against a wall

    • Rest foot on standing leg (foot around the ankle, not pushing the ankle, toes on the ground or foot on shin or foot on the inner thigh)

    • To take it further : eyes closed, raise arms up, balance without any reference to the surrounding environment
